Week 7 = Confidence

I couldn’t think of a better title on this particular post but my best feeling right now. CONFIDENCE. ๐Ÿ™‚ Okay don’t get me wrong, on my 5km today I felt like it was a good night to run but when I heard my running app, my speed was just 7.5km/hour! I was like, “Whaaaat???” I felt like I was going on 9km/hr! Here is my embarassing 5km run awhile ago..

So when I say CONFIDENCE. It means confidence in joining FUN RUNS! Yes! I’m slowly going out there! I’ll blog tomorrow about the first fun run I’ll be having this May! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s a 10km run that I’ll be running with my husband that will be held on his alma mater, the University of the Philippines.

Anyway, back to my run. So this week I’ll be having a 5km/7km/4km/16km ๐Ÿ™‚ My 5km awhile ago felt easy but oh boy I was wrong! My mind was telling my feet to go fast but my feet was so heavy from my LSD run last Sunday or I think I’m just really bad at stretching. How do you stretch before and after a run? How many minutes?

I have to improve my stretching ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I do think that it contribute so much to my run and warm ups. So I’ll be consulting Mr. Google or Mr. You Tube for some infos tomorrow.

My new Halo Hair Band

Remember my LSD run last week when I lost my Halo Hair band? It cost me Php 795.00 (and it’s 5day old) and it took me a hard time to buy another one. Yeah, I’m cheapskate like that! So last saturday I asked my husband that I need to buy a new hairband and I prefer Halo since it works for me. It’s the only brand I’ve tried so far and I’m pretty sure I’ll be sticking to it for a looooong time. When I mean long, I mean forever. So I bought this one…Image

It’s Php 375.00 only, half of the price of the hairband I lost the first time. I’ll still buy probably next week the one I lost but I wanna try how effective this one is. So the next day I tried it on my 16km run and Oh boy! Halo does stick to its words when it says on their webpage…

Finished Week 6 of my Half Marathon Training!

Woot! I did it! I finished my 16km LSD run for my week6. ๐Ÿ™‚

Usually, my husband and I spend our sundays at the mall, movie or just window shopping but today I told him that I will rest and take a nap on the afternoon to get ready for my LSD run tonight. So by 2:30pm I was already on dream land and woke up around 5:30ish. My ever supportive husband drove me to UP and just waited for me at a nearby Starbucks ๐Ÿ™‚ He promised me that he’ll support me during my long runs every sunday hehe!

I was okay up to 10km run until… SOMEONE FRIGGING STOLE MY WATER! I always put my water behind a post during the start of my run and drink every after 4.5km. So when I found out on my 2nd stop that my water bottle isn’t there! I freaked out! I have no money since my husband dropped me off! I was feeling dehydrated already! Moral lesson: BRING MONEY!

So I texted my husband to go back early and buy me some water but of course it me another 2km to meet him coz UP’s oval is closed for their Commencement Exercises. After fueling mylself up again with water, I felt okay until 15km when I felt pain somewhere in my lungs! My body was so ready to walk it out but my brain encouraged me to just breathe profusely and cam down and I did.. I finished strong! I was able to run the entire 16km ๐Ÿ™‚ So proud of myself!

As I am blogging about this, I rewarded myself with half rice and Lechon Kawali (Fried Pork)! Hihi!

I hope you had a good LSD run today my fellow newbie runners! Remember: It’s all in the mind. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am a Creature of Habit

I am a creature of habit. When me and my husband started dating he introduced me to Japanese, Indian, authentic Chinese Food and he me enjoy things that I won’t even dare to try.

Before I started training for my half marathon over a month ago, I’ve been running for a year on a TREADMILL even though UP (University of the Philippines) Sunken Garden, one of the best training route for runners is a stone away from our house. Whenever someone will ask me why not run outdoors, I always tell them “I can’t do it and it’s so hard!” I know, that doesn’t even count as a valid reason.

The first time I ran at UP I felt good and I was like “Hey I can do this!” I felt like it was my “me” time, that I can zone out from work and not think of anyone or anything else but how perfect the night is. For over a month now, I’ve been running on the same route seeing this at night…

See how perfect and serene UP Oval is? It’s perfect at night ๐Ÿ™‚

But today, I was set to do my 3km run at the gym (see my post below) since I feel so bad that I was not able to maximize my membership. So when I got to the car, I found myself driving back to UP, sheeeshh. I thought to myself since I can’t see Mr. Sun yet, might as well run and see the sunflowers on daylight.

When I reached the elliptical road, I passed by the Quezon Memorial Circle, you see, the circle also has a good route for runners. From the name itself, it is a circle, it is 1.8km computed from the outside perimeter of the circle while UP has 2.2km on the Oval. And there I was, for the life of me, I found myself turning left on the circle and paying for the parking fee! I’m here!

It was a beautiful day to run, there are families, lots of vendors and kids playing around at the circle but the running route is clean of any people so you can have a perfect run trying to avoid Mr. Sun! Hehe! So there I was, a creature of habit trying to explore what QC Circle will bring…

And I finished it! Done with my easy 3km run for the week! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ll now rest fpr my long run tomorrow and have a satur-date with my husband! Have a good weekend my fellow runners ๐Ÿ™‚

A good 8km Tempo Run!

Oh yeah I’m back! I mean back from that very awful colds and that evil menstrual cramps that made me missed running yesterday.

So today I did my 8km tempo run…

Well, it was a good time for me considering I was down for a week so now I’m trying to catch up with my Week 6 of Half-Marathon Training. During my 1st mile and that slight uphill I can feel my legs stretching, when I mean stretching, I mean tired. But I psyche myself it’s just warming up (this always happen when I’m running) and VOILA! on my 2nd mile I was running like breeze. I even hit 9.60km/hr and lowest was 7.46km/hr, as always, I was having a hard time following what “tempo” running is. I feel like I want to finish fast and to have a best time. So on sunday I’m doing my LSD 16km run, I have to psyche myself that I’m doing that for endurance!

So because of that “catch up” I mentioned awhile back, I have to wake up early tomorrow to get my 3km easy run at the gym. Yes, I’m also enrolled at Gold’s Gym and I feel bad for not making the most of my membership since I almost have no time for some gym classes ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Next week, I’ll try to catch some toning and spin class for my alternative class on rest days from running.

So anyways, hope you all had a good run or maybe a rest day today! I have to change now as I’m dripping from sweat! Ciao my fellow runners!
